FAQs about Orlando International Airport

What if I am traveling with pets?

Any pet is not allowed to walk freely around the terminal unless it’s a service animal, assisting people. At Orlando Airport, pets can only move in an approved carrier. However, seven animal relief areas situated within the facility allow your pet to relax and play. Check their exact location in the following list:

  • Outside Terminals - at North Cell Phone Lot
  • Pre-security zone - at Level 2 of Terminals A and B, at the east/west end of the building respectively
  • Post-security zone - near Gates 1-29, Gates 30-59, Gates 70-99, and Gates 100-129

When flying from MCO Airport, you have three options to travel with your pet - in the cabin with you, as baggage, and as cargo. Only small animals may be allowed in the cabin, while the practice of traveling as luggage can be dangerous for your pet due to possible high or low temperatures in the aircraft's luggage compartment.

Therefore, you can resort to the services of private carriers such as Airanimal. In any case, see the APHIS Pet Travel Rules for more information on transporting animals. Also, check Animal Movement specifics when bringing a pet into Florida from out of state.

How early to arrive at MCO Airport?

According to the recommendations, passengers must arrive at the airport at least 2 hours before the scheduled time to service their Orlando departures. Check-in, security screening, moving around the terminal, and boarding takes time. Thus, it’s better to reserve extra minutes, especially during the high season when the airport is full of travelers.
